THE DRILL DOWN
THE PROCESS
PRE SITE ASSESSMENT
A pre site assessment is carried out to determine the following:
Depth Estimate the drill depth for the location
Area Take into consideration relevant local area information
Power point access There must be an electrical power point within 5m of the borehole drilling location
Water access A minimum of 6,000L of water is required during and after the drill - we can provide this if necessary
Waste removal Skip hire for drilling debris and waste removal - varies with depth and location
ON SITE PROCESS
CONSTRUCTION STAGE
Preparation Site is prepared and protective sheeting is laid down
Drill Drilling commences and we drill to the agreed depth or until we find water (based on discussions with the client as we progress)
Casings The borehole is lined with PVC casing (plastic) or steel casing depending on the ground structure
Screens Screens regulate the water pressure at the bottom of the hole, these are packed with gravel and sand which help filter the water
DEVELOPMENT STAGE
Flush An air compressor blows out the existing water in the hole until the water is clear
Pump A pump is placed in the hole and tested
Optimise We then ensure the borehole is fit for purpose e.g. highest yield with minimum drawdown and best quality water available for the install
Secure We secure the top of the hole with a cap
Clean up Remove the rig and clean the site
AFTER DRILL CARE
Flow meter Borehole water must be metered and recorded for the CoCT records. We fit a flow meter with each installation at no additional cost
Registration You borehole should be registered with the CoCT once completed. Register here.
Support We offer free support for the first month of your borehole to protect against any natural shifts affecting the installation
Maintenance We run and recommend an annual borehole maintenance inspection
